Demand for services is stronger than ever. Supply delays are widespread. Building product prices are rising. How Kingdom Roofing Systems is providing for our customers as timelines and prices fluctuate.
First and foremost, communication is incredibly important in keeping customers satisfied as timelines and prices are fluctuating. It is imperative that as contractors we set proper and realistic expectations. Customer satisfaction is attached to the expectations the contractor sets. The saying, “under-promise and over-deliver” is very true. At the time of the contract, Kingdom Roofing Systems provides an estimated install date based on the information provided by suppliers, and we keep in regular contact with the homeowners throughout the project. In these times, the more communication the better.
From there, we communicate the terms that our proposals are good for. Ideally, we hold pricing 60-90 days, but in these times 30 days are the most. We encourage customers to not hesitate if the project is a need, like a leaking roof. Waiting is the most expensive thing they can do.
As a staple in the community and the construction industry at large, we have forged rock-solid partnerships with our vendors and suppliers. With a reputation for treating vendors with respect and dignity, they are much more likely to take care of us when demand is higher than supply. All in all, Kingdom is getting favorable treatment which is passed down to our customers.
A good remodeling or home improvement firm knows the limits of its capabilities to take on additional work. What do/would you communicate to clients when you cannot handle their job and must decline their inquiry?
Kingdom Roofing Systems has forged amazing partnerships with other contractors in our industry and even other trades. If we are unable to perform the work, our goal is always to connect them with a company of high integrity, quality craftsmanship, and fair prices. We ask for feedback also to ensure that those companies we refer to are treating our referrals like gold.
During busy times like these, operational adjustments are needed in order to take on more work, often with the same level of staffing. What steps have you taken to ensure a quality experience despite the added workloads for your team?
Kingdom leans heavily on technology. We have a full-time IT Manager that is utilizing sophisticated software to expand each employee’s production without forfeiting the human touch. When software is built or customized properly it will help: eliminate double data entries, keep projects organized, date and time stamp photos/file progression, will automatically communicate pertinent info with our team and customers, organize all financials in one place… just to name a few. Software and technology were a huge missing piece to the construction industry for years but we have seen massive enhancements and development of the last decade. Kingdom Roofing Systems is committed to helping the industry in the tech space and regularly acts as a beta tester and is seen as an industry-leading expert in this space.
